I realize that a lot of what I’ve been writing about lately is pretty depressing, in part because of the state of, well, everything. I don’t want to fill this space with only depressing things though, so I am also going to make a point to share nice things too, like pictures of my cats, my artwork, and my photography. I hope it will make your visits here more enjoyable.

I need to apologize for my negligence, having not yet formally introduced my two cats, Leela and Bagheera. Please don’t tell them, they would be offended if they knew it took me this long.
Leela and Bagheera are both rescues. We brought them both home the same day from a shelter in Vermont, back in June of 2022. Both Mr. Kelly and I fell in love with them immediately upon meeting them.

Leela is a small, short haired tabby cat with an enormous personality trapped in a little tiny package. She loves people, especially Mr. Kelly, and she wants to meet everyone and get all of the pets (but she does not like to be picked up or held). You’ll notice one of her eyes is a little wonky, it was like that when we adopted her. It’s due to an ulcerative condition, but it does not appear to cause her any pain, she does have some vision on that side, and we keep an eye on it (ha) with our vet.

Bagheera is a fluffy black cat, and he is a pretty big boy at 15lbs. Despite his size, he is very timid, and he is very sweet. He is also a giant mama’s boy. When we went in the room to meet them at the shelter, he hid behind me, and he has been my little fluffy shadow ever since.
Unfortunately, both Leela and Bagheera have each been fighting off a different infection the last few weeks, which has resulted in a lot of vet visits (and bills). Poor Leela has been dealing with this since we had to take her to the ER vet in the middle of the night in February. We have another follow up visit with the vet for both of them tomorrow morning, wish us luck!
